Aus tails wags, but Cook keeps Eng ahead: 5th Test, D2 (SCG)

England ended an absorbing day on top with 167-3 in reply to Australia's 280 all out, with Alastair Cook unbeaten on 61 as the cornerstone.

Cook put on 98 with Strauss (60 in 58 balls) to get England off to a good start before the loss of 3 wickets.

Earlier, Mitchell Johnson hit 53 in a lower-order recovery as Australia went from 189-8 to 280 all out. Anderson took 4-66.
