Opener Phil Hughes scored his first test hundred (122 not out) in over 2 years as Sri Lanka pressed for a series levelling victory with a baffling and painful ultra slow batting display of their own in the morning session. Angelo Mathews scored his maiden test hundred to give Sri Lanka a handy first-innings lead of 157. The Australians then finished the fourth day at 209 for three wickets for an overall lead of 52.
