Skipper Mahela Jayawardene's polished century (105), his second successive ton, put paid to an impressive start by England's bowlers and left the match evenly poised after the home team closed at 238-6. Jayawardene formed a 124-run partnership with Thilan Samaraweera (54) to rescue Sri Lanka after they lost 3 wickets for 30 runs.
