Tillakaratne Dilshan (46 not out) and Kumar Sangakkara (22 not out) put on a resolute stand before rain washed out the final two sessions.

Earlier, Pakistan batted on for an hour while adding 63 runs to their overnight 488-4 with skipper Misbah making his 17th test fifty.
