Day 1 analysis: Late Smith strikes edges Aussies ahead despite Bell ton (Lords)

Ian Bell (109) joined an elite trio with his third Ashes century in successive Tests, while Australia claimed three late wickets to edge ahead.

Leg-spinner Steve Smith, who did not bowl in Australia's 14-run defeat at Trent Bridge removed Bell, Jonny Bairstow (67) and Matt Prior as England slipped from 271-4 to 289-7 by the close. Stuart Clark provides the analysis.
