de Kock on 178: It was just my day, I guess (Centurion)

South African record breaker Quinton de Kock says his brilliant century against Australia was "fun" on a beautiful batting wicket in Centurion.

South Africa crushed Australia by 6 wickets at Centurion as Quinton de Kock produced one of the great ODI knocks — a blistering 178 off 113 balls — to chase down a sizable 295 target with ease.

Australia had reached 294 thanks to George Bailey’s 74 and Travis Head’s 73, but their bowling had no answer to de Kock’s relentless timing and power. SA were 145/1 in the 19th over and effectively killed the chase early.

De Kock’s hitting through cover and down the ground dismantled both pace and spin, and by the time he fell SA were already in cruise mode. They finished it in the 37th over to go 1–0 up in the five-match series.
