Steve Waugh: Vintage square drive

England vs. Australia First test at Headingley in 1989.

Allan Border's captain cranky leadership was clearly the tonic for players such as Steve Waugh and Mark Taylor who suddenly came of age during the famous 1989 Ashes series.

These two classic square drives a trademark of Waugh were scored on the way to 177 not out in the First Test.

Australia went on to declare on 601-7 which was consolidated by a masterclass on seam bowling by Terry Alderman who took ten wickets for the match.
