Root, Bairstow inspire win despite Finch ton: 2nd ODI (Gabba)

England took a 2-0 lead over Australia despite a century from in form Aussie opener Aaron Finch.

The occasional off-spin of Joe Root slowed Australia's charge after they were handily placed at 210-3 with a target of 300+ on the cards.

Set 271 to win, the tourists eased to 119-1 only to be checked by the wickets of Alex Hales, Jonny Bairstow and Eoin Morgan. But Root and Chris Woakes calmly guided England home with 34 balls to spare.

England 6 for 274 (Bairstow 60, Hales 57, Root 46 not out, Starc 4-57) beat Australia 9 for 270 (Finch 106) by 4 wickets.
