Nicholls, Boult keep NZ in command: 1st Test, Day 4 (Auckland)

Left arm quick Trent Boult got Joe Root (51) with the final ball of the day to rock England looking to salvage a draw from the first Test.

Opener Mark Stoneman (55) got England off to a steady start as they ended on 132-3, still trailing New Zealand by 237.

Earlier, New Zealand declared at 427 for eight, an imposing 369 runs ahead of England after Henry Nicholls stroked 145 not out.

England 58 and 132 for 3 (Stoneman 55, Root 51) trail New Zealand 427 for 8 dec. (Nicholls 145*, Williamson 102) by 237 runs.
