Woakes, Roy send Aussies packing: 2019 WC Semi Final (Edgbaston)

Chris Woakes was the star as England sailed into their first World Cup final since 1992 with a merciless performance beating defending champions Australia by eight wickets.

Steve Smith continued his sublime form in World Cup knockouts, top-scoring for Australia with 85 as they struggled to 223. Woakes took 3-20 and Rashid took 3-54.

In reply, Jason Roy was in devastating form tearing into the Australian bowling pummelling them for five sixes and nine fours for 85 off 65 balls. Joe Root (49 n.o. off 46 balls) and captain Eoin Morgan (45 n.o. off 39 balls) saw England through to the final with an unbroken stand of 79 off 75 balls

England (Roy 85, Root 49*, Morgan 45*) beat Australia 223 (Smith 85, Woakes 3-20, Rashid 3-54) by eight wickets.
