Afghanistan defeat South Africa for first ever win: 1st ODI (Sharjah)

A rampant Afghanistan stunned South Africa by defeating them for the very first time, in the 1st ODI in Sharjah.

Paceman Farooqie (4-35) had South Africa in trouble in the powerplay as they collapsed to 36/7. Wiaan Mulder dragged them past 100.

In reply, Afghanistan suffered from early nerves but Gulbadin Naib and Azmatullah Omarzai got the job done to pull off a memorable win.

South Africa 106 in 33.3 overs (Wiaan Mulder 52; Fazalhaq Farooqi 4/35, Allah Ghazanfar 3/20) lost to Afghanistan 107/4 in 26 overs (Gulbadin Naib 34*; Bjorn Fortuin 2/22) by six wickets.
