King powers Windies in narrow win over Sri Lanka: 1st T20 (Dambulla)

Opener Brandon King was the star as the West Indies beat Sri Lanka by five wickets in the first T20I of the three-match series to go 1-0 up at Dambulla.

King (63) and Evin Lewis (50) hit half-centuries and shared a 107-run stand in 55 balls as West Indies got over the line with 5 balls to spare.

Earlier, Sri Lanka posted a good score of 179-7 in their allotted 20 overs courtesy of half centuries from Kamindu Mendis (51) and captain Charith Asalanka (59 off 35).

West Indies 180 for 5 (King 63, Lewis 50, Pathirana 2-27) beat Sri Lanka 179 for 7 (Asalanka 59, Kamindu 51, Shepherd 2-39) by five wickets.
