Ashwin spins out Aussies for innings win: 1st Test (Nagpur)

Ravichandran Ashwin claimed his 30th five-wicket haul in Test matches as he bamboozled the Australian top and middle order to secure an innings win in the 1st Test at Nagpur.

Day 1 - India 1st Innings 77/1, 24.0 overs (R G Sharma 56*, R Ashwin 0*)

Day 2 - India 1st Innings 321/7, 114.0 overs (R A Jadeja 66*, A R Patel 52*)

Day 3 - Australia 2nd Innings 91, 32.3 overs (Ashwin 5-37) - end of match

Winning the toss, Australia posted 177 in their first innings with only Marnus Labuschagne (49) showing any fight. Jadeja took 5-47.

In reply, Rohit Sharma smashed 120 to power India to a match winnings 400 in their first innings. On his debut, spinner Todd Murphy took 7-124.

Starting 223 behind, Australia lasted just 32-and-a-half overs to be dismissed for 91 in their second innings.

India 400 (Rohit 120, Axar 84, Murphy 7-124) beat Australia 177 and 91 (Smith 25*, Ashwin 5-37) by an innings and 132 runs.
