The original stadium (Sardar Patel Stadium / Motera) was established in 1982–83 on ~50 acres on the banks of the Sabarmati river, with its first international match (a Test) in November 1983 between India and West Indies.

Capacity: ~132,000 spectators, making it the world’s largest cricket stadium.
