Yograj Singh was a right-arm fast-medium bowler for India in the early 1980s.
Born on 25 March 1958 in Punjab, he represented the national side in 1 Test match and 6 One Day Internationals between 1980 and 1981.
Though his international career was brief, he was regarded as a promising pace bowler before injuries curtailed his progress. After retiring from cricket, he transitioned into acting, becoming a well-known face in Punjabi and Hindi cinema, while also contributing as a cricket coach.
Yograj Singh had limited opportunities at the international level. In his only Test match, he took 1 wicket, while in 6 ODIs, he picked up 4 wickets. His bowling style relied on medium pace and discipline rather than express speed.
Although his numbers do not reflect a long career, his legacy remains significant due to his role in shaping the career of his son, Yuvraj Singh, and his continued involvement in cricket through coaching and mentorship.
