
Dulip Kapila Liyanage was born on June 6, 1972, in Kalutara, Sri Lanka.
He bowled right-arm fast-medium and batted left-handed.
He made his Test debut alongside Muttiah Muralitharan against Australia in Colombo in August 1992. In that match, he made an immediate impact by taking the wicket of Tom Moody with his third delivery and later dismissing Alan Border and David Boon.
Over his Test career, Liyanage played 9 matches, taking 17 wickets at an average of 39.17, with best figures of 5/110.
Liyanage played 16 ODI matches for Sri Lanka between 1992 and 2001, claiming 10 wickets at an average of 51.00.
