Azhar Ali was born on February 19, 1985 in Lahore, Punjab. He is a free scoring right handed batsman who bats in the top 3

Azhar made his Test debut against Australia at Lords in the 1st Test of 2010. He made 16 and 42 as Pakistan lost by 150 runs.

In 2014, he scored a sparkling 109 in the 2nd Test to help Pakistan defeat Australia 2-0 in the Test series in the UAE.

In Oct 2016, Azhar struck 302 not out - Pakistan's fourth-highest individual score - as his side took control of the first Test against the West Indies.

In Dec 2016, Azhar scored 205 not out against Australia in the 2nd Test at the MCG. This was the first time a Pakistani had scored a double hundred in Australia. This also made Azhar the first Pakistani to record a triple and double century in the same year
