Asad Shafiq was born in Karachi on 28 Jan 1986. He is a right hand batsman who made his first class debut for Hyderebad for Karachi in 2007.
He made his ODI debut for Pakistan in the 2nd ODI against South Africa in Dubai in Nov 2010 scoring 43.
Shafiq made his Test debut against South Africa in Abu Dhabi in 2010.
In Dec 2016, Shafiq hit a magnificient 137 against Australia at the Gabba as Pakistan made 450 in their last innings to almost pull off a historic win. It was Shafiq’s ninth century batting at number six, which made him the most prolific ton scorer to ever occupy that position at Test level. He surpassed Sir Garfield Sobers who held the previous record with 8 centuries.
