Bruce Martin was born on 25 April 1980 in Whangarei. He is a left arm spinner who made his first class debut for Auckland in 1999. He played for NZ in the U-19 World Cup in 1997 but had to endure a long run in first class cricket in Daniel Vettori's shadow before finally making his Test debuta against England in Dunedin in 2013.
