Test debut made amidst mass team changes
Peter Handscomb was born on April 26, 1991 in Melbourne, Victoria. He is a right handed middle order batsman who made his first class debut for Victoria in 2011 posting a defiant 71 off 212 against Queensland on a tough Gabba pitch.
From there he went on to establish himself in the VIC side, making 408 runs and one century in his maiden first-class season.
In 2016, Handscomb pushed for Australian selection after scoring a polished 91 on tour for Australia A on a crumbling pitch in Chennai against an attack featuring Indian Test spinners Amit Mishra and Pragyan Ojha.
Handscomb was picked for his Test debut against South Africa in the 3rd Test in 2016, after Australia were forced to refresh the team with new faces following 5 straight Test defeats. He has pressed for selection with perfect timing by scoring a career best 215 for Victoria.
He scored his maiden Test hundred in only his 2nd match against Pakistan in Brisbane in 2016.
