Auqib Nabi Dar (born 4 November 1996 in Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir) is a right-arm medium-fast bowler who has emerged as one of the most promising pace talents in Indian cricket.
Nicknamed the Baramulla Express, Nabi began his cricketing journey playing tennis-ball cricket before progressing through the domestic ranks with Jammu and Kashmir. He made his List A debut in 2018 and his first-class debut in 2020, gradually establishing himself as a dependable and skilful new-ball bowler.
Nabi enjoyed a breakthrough 2024-25 Ranji Trophy season, claiming 44 wickets and establishing himself among India’s leading domestic fast bowlers. He continued his outstanding form in 2025-26, taking 60 wickets and playing a pivotal role in Jammu and Kashmir’s historic maiden Ranji Trophy championship. His ability to swing the ball both ways, maintain accuracy and extract movement from the surface has made him particularly effective in first-class cricket. His match-winning performances included a remarkable 12-wicket haul against Madhya Pradesh in the quarter-finals.
His outstanding domestic achievements earned him an IPL contract with Delhi Capitals for Rs 8.40 crore at the 2026 auction and recognition at national level.
Inspired by South African fast-bowling great Dale Steyn, Nabi combines aggression with discipline and an ability to bowl lengthy spells. His rise from the cricketing landscape of Jammu and Kashmir to the national stage represents a remarkable achievement, and he is regarded as an exciting addition to India’s fast-bowling resources.
