Windies break Bangladesh streak as Rutherford ton secures win: 1st ODI (St Kitts)

Sherfane Rutherford’s maiden one day century powered the West Indies to a thrilling five-wicket victory over Bangladesh with 14 balls to spare at Warner Park.

A 99-run partnership between Shai Hope (86) and Rutherford (113) settled the Windies after losing early wickets. Rutherford and Justin Greaves (41 not out off 31) chased down the victory target in the final stages. The win ended Bangladesh’s 11-game winning streak against the West Indies.

Earlier, Bangladesh had won the toss and chose to bat first, posting 294-6. Skipper Mehidy Hasan Miraz top-scoring with 74 runs from 101 balls.

West Indies 295 for 5 (Rutherford 113, Hope 86, Greaves 41*) beat Bangladesh 294 for 6 (Mehidy 74, Tanzid 60, Mahmadullah 50*, Shepherd 3-51) by five wickets.
