Peterson knocks over Pakistan for 211: 1st Test, Day 1 (Centurion)

Veteran paceman Dane Paterson rattled Pakistan with a fine bowling display as South Africa dominated Day 1 of the first Test at SuperSport Park.

After losing 4 early wickets, Ghulam smashed a 52-ball half-century and shared a rapid 81-run fifth-wicket stand with Mohammad Rizwan (27) to repair the damage. Paterson took five for 61 while debutant Corbin Bosch took four for 63 as Pakistan were knocked over for 211.

Khurram Shahzad struck twice and Mohammad Abbas claimed a late wicket as South Africa reached 82-3 at stumps.

South Africa 82 for 3 (Markram 47*, Shahzad 2-28) trail Pakistan 211 (Gulam 54, Paterson 5-61, Bosch 4-63) by 129 runs.
