WTC Final Analysis: Markram and Bavuma edge South Africa to brink of stunning upset win

Australia were left praying that South Africa’s habit of choking at global ICC events might return after a dramatic day 3 at Lords.

Chasing a steep target of 282, a sparkling unbeaten 102 from Aiden Markram helped the Proteas reach 213 for two at stumps.

At 70-2, skipper Bavuma (65 not out) joined Markram to repel the Aussie attack and put on a magnificent partnership of 143 runs that has taken them to within 65 runs of a stunning upset over Australia in the final.
