Ayub, Nawaz headline Pakistan win over Windies: 1st T20 (Florida)

Pakistan defeated West Indies by 14 runs in the first T20I at Fort Lauderdale to take a 1–0 lead in the series.

After being sent in to bat, Pakistan posted a competitive 178/6, with opener Saim Ayub anchoring the innings with a composed 57 off 38 balls. Despite a flurry of wickets in the middle overs, a late cameo from Jason Holder—playing for Pakistan as a local replacement—added vital runs at the death.

In response, the West Indies struggled for momentum during their chase, losing regular wickets and only managing 164/7 by the end of 20 overs. Mohammad Nawaz starred with the ball, claiming 3 for 23 and earning Player of the Match honours. The hosts mounted a late fightback, scoring 38 runs in the final two overs, but it wasn’t enough to bridge the gap.

Pakistan 178 for 6 (Ayub 57, Shamar 3-30) beat West Indies 164 for 7 (Andrew 35, Charles 35, Nawaz 3-23) by 14 runs.
