India crush Windies by innings as Ashwin takes 12 wickets: 1st Test, Day 3 (Dominica)

Ravi Ashwin was the destroyer as India’s tour of the West Indies began with a dominant performance in the first Test at Windsor Park, Dominica, where the visitors triumphed by an innings and 141 runs.

Batting first, West Indies were dismissed for just 150, with Ashwin spinning through the lineup to claim 5 for 60.

India’s reply was emphatic—debutant Yashasvi Jaiswal starred with a brilliant 171, while captain Rohit Sharma added 103 and Virat Kohli contributed 76, taking India to a commanding 421 for 5 declared.

The hosts fared no better in their second innings, folding for 130 as Ashwin struck again with 7 wickets to finish with match figures of 12 for 131. The match showcased India’s superiority in all departments, highlighted by Jaiswal’s dream debut and Ashwin’s masterclass in spin bowling, giving India a 1–0 lead in the two-Test series.

India 421 for 5 dec (Jaiswal 171, Rohit 103, Kohli 76) beat West Indies 150 (Athanaze 47, Ashwin 5-60, Jadeja 3-26) and 130 (Athanaze 28, Ashwin 7-71, Jadeja 2-38) by an innings and 141 runs.
