USA downs Namibia, eyes Super 8 spot: T20 World Cup No 26 (Chennai)

United States produced an impressive batting display to defeat Namibia in their Group A clash at the 2026 T20 World Cup in Chennai.

Batting first, the USA piled up a strong 199/4 in 20 overs, led by captain Monank Patel’s 52 and a blistering unbeaten 68 off 33 balls from Sanjay Krishnamurthi, who powered the innings through the middle and death overs.

In reply, Namibia fought back but were restricted to 168/6, falling short by 31 runs. Louren Steenkamp top-scored with 58, with JJ Smit adding 31, but the required rate kept climbing against disciplined USA bowling. The victory keeps the USA firmly in contention in the group and underlined their growing confidence on the world stage.

USA 199 for 4 (Krishnamurthi 68*, Monank 52, Myburgh 2-22) beat Namibia 168 for 6 (Steenkamp 58, van Schalkwyk 2-30) by 31 runs.
