Abbas rocks Windies after Greaves triggers Pakistan collapse: 1st Test, Day 3 (Tarouba)

Justin Greaves was the key as the West Indies fought back brilliantly to edge ahead but they stumbled badly in the last session.

Resuming on 199 for 3, Pakistan were bowled out for 282—conceding a 29-run first-innings lead—notwithstanding captain Shan Masood’s excellent 109.

All-rounder Greaves spearheaded the fightback with a stellar 5 for 27, while Kemar Roach chipped in with two key wickets to trigger a lower-order slide.

West Indies then crumbled to 126 for 7 in their second innings, stretching their overall lead to 155 by stumps. Tagenarine Chanderpaul top-scored with a patient 35, but Pakistan’s seamers quickly struck back, led by Mohammad Abbas (3 for 14) and Khurram Shahzad (2 for 36).

However, a fiery unbeaten late cameo from Shamar Joseph—smashing 22 off just 13 balls—gave the hosts a crucial boost and ensured they ended the day with a potentially decisive edge.

West Indies 126 for 7 (Chanderpaul 35, Joseph 22*, Abbas 3-14) and 311 (Hope 92, Hodge 84, Abbas 4-50) lead Pakistan 282 (Masood 109, Imam 63, Greaves 5-27) by 155 runs.
