Seales shines as Windies rout Pakistan for win: 1st Test, Day 4 (Tarouba)

Paceman Jayden Seales took five wickets as West Indies sealed a commanding 90-run victory over Pakistan on Day 4 in Tarouba, taking a 1-0 lead in the two-Test series after successfully defending a target of 211.

Resuming their second innings at 126 for 7, the hosts were eventually bowled out for 181, with Pakistan’s Mohammad Ali taking 4 for 39.

Though modest, the target proved well beyond Pakistan’s reach on a lively surface exploited brilliantly by the West Indies pace attack. Pakistan’s chase never found its footing, crumbling to 120 all out in 40.2 overs.

Babar Azam fought a lone battle with an unbeaten 58, but received virtually no support against a rampant Jayden Seales, who tore through the lineup to finish with 5 for 20. Justin Greaves—who had earlier set the tone for the match with a historic streak of five consecutive wicket-maidens—provided ideal support to wrap up an impressive win.

West Indies 311 (Hope 92, Hodge 84, Ali 4-50) and 181 (Joseph 38, Chanderpaul 35, Abbas 5-22) beat Pakistan 282 (Masood 109, Imam 63, Greaves 5-27) and 120 (Babar 58*, Seales 5-18) by 90 runs.
