Dinusha century in vain as India dominate SL: 1st Test, Day 3 (Galle)

India completed their first innings for 462 early on Day 3, with Devdutt Padikkal’s magnificent 167 the foundation of the total.

Sri Lanka’s reply began disastrously, collapsing to 99/5, as India’s spinners, particularly Manav Suthar, exerted heavy pressure.

Sri Lanka then staged a remarkable recovery through Sonal Dinusha and Niroshan Dickwella, who added 146 for the sixth wicket. Dickwella made 80 before falling, while Dinusha completed a memorable maiden Test century.

India eventually dismissed Sri Lanka for 284, securing a 178-run first-innings lead; Suthar finished with 4/76 and Ravindra Jadeja 3/57. Rain brought the day to an early close, leaving India firmly in control.
