Tongue, Robinson, Archer torch Pakistan for innings win: 1st Test, Day 3 (Leeds)

England completed a crushing innings-and-103-run victory over Pakistan on Day 3 of the first Test at Headingley, taking a 1–0 lead in the series.

England were bowled out for 409, giving them a first-innings advantage of 238 after Pakistan’s 171. Pakistan then struggled against a relentless England attack, collapsing to 135 all out in their second innings.

Ollie Robinson, Josh Tongue and Jofra Archer took three wickets each as Pakistan’s batting again failed to withstand England’s pace attack.

Robinson and Tongue finished with eight wickets apiece for the match, while England’s emphatic victory gave Joe Root a winning start as Test captain and ended the contest inside three days.

England 366 for 8 (Brook 91, Cox 73, Root 66, Lawrence 51, Usman 5-92) beat Pakistan 171 (Tongue 5-46, Robinson 5-51) and 135 (Rizwan 41, Robinson 3-29, Tongue 3-43, Archer 3-50) by an innings and 103 runs.
