Jurel century propels India to 503

India took complete control on Day 2 of the second Test in Colombo, declaring on 503/9 after Dhruv Jurel produced a superb unbeaten 115.

Jurel shared a century partnership with Rishabh Pant, who made an aggressive 63, while Pant’s return to the crease was particularly impressive after retiring hurt on Day 1.

Sri Lanka’s response could hardly have started worse. India struck twice in just three overs, with Prasidh Krishna dismissing Lahiru Udara and Manav Suthar removing Prabath Jayasuriya, leaving Sri Lanka 8/2 at stumps and trailing by 495 runs.

Bad light ended play after only three overs, and Sri Lanka were left facing an enormous task on Day 3.
