India dominate SL after Prasidh, Suthar strikes: 2nd Test, Day 3 (SSC)

Sri Lanka fought hard on Day 3 of the second Test in Colombo but remained in serious trouble against India.

Chasing India’s imposing 503/9 declared, the hosts reached 265/8 at stumps, still 238 runs behind. Pasindu Sooriyabandara produced an impressive 80, his maiden Test half-century, while Sonal Dinusha continued his outstanding series form and was unbeaten on 85.

India’s pace attack made the crucial breakthroughs, with Prasidh Krishna taking 3/47 and Manav Suthar 3/83.

Sri Lanka’s lower order frustrated India late in the day, with Dinusha and Lahiru Kumara surviving through the final session. Persistent rain and bad light ended play early, leaving Sri Lanka needing another 39 runs to avoid the follow-on, with only two wickets remaining.

Sri Lanka 265 for 8 (Dinusha 85*, Sooriyabandara 80, Prasidh 3-47) trail India 503 for 9 dec by 238 runs.
