Shadman lifts Bangladesh as Windies toil: 1st Test, Day 1 (Mirpur)

Bangladesh reached 213 for three against West Indies in the first Test, with Shadman Islam closing in on a century on an unbeaten 99.

The opener batted with composure and determination, anchoring the innings while building a strong platform for the hosts. Towhid Hridoy provided valuable support with 42 not out, continuing a productive fourth-wicket partnership as Bangladesh looked to strengthen their position.

West Indies’ Jomel Warrican was the most successful bowler, claiming two wickets for 33 runs, but the visitors struggled to break through during the latest phase of Bangladesh’s innings. With Shadman just one run short of his hundred and wickets in hand, Bangladesh were well placed to push towards a substantial first-innings total.

The final score at stumps was Bangladesh 213 for 3, with Litton Das unbeaten on 10 alongside Shadman on 99. Hridoy retired hurt on 42 after suffering a leg problem.

Bangladesh 213 for 3 (Shadman 99*, Hridoy 42, Warrican 2-33) vs West Indies.
