Australia resumed play at 303 for 4 but largely due to a lethal spell by Steyn were knocked over for 352 all out in a sensational hour of play.

Mitchell Johnson then combined with Ben Hilfenhaus to reduce the hosts to 62 for 4 at tea. Then there were the savage blows that Johnson rained upon Smith and Kallis causing them to retire to hospital.
