Khawaja on standby for injured Ponting (MCG)
Usman Khawaja has been drafted in as cover in the fourth Ashes Test if captain Ricky Ponting fails to recover from a fractured finger. Khawaja, who was born in Pakistan and moved to Australia as a young boy, said he was not expecting a call-up to the Australia test team. Merv Hughes says that Ponting is a better captain now than 3 years ago. Dec 2010
