Shafiq and bowlers seal quarters berth: 2011 World Cup #33 (Pallekelle)

Playing his first match of the world cup, Asad Shafiq (78 not out) scored his highest individual ODI score to help Pakistan beat Zimbabwe by seven wickets via Duckworth-Lewis method in a rain-marred Group A match and qualify for the quarter-finals.

Shafiq and Mohammad Hafeez (49) added 82 runs for the second wicket to see Pakistan chase down the 162-run revised target of Zimbabwe in 34.1 overs.

Earlier, Craig Ervine (52) helped Zimbabwe post 151 for seven in 39.4 overs. Pakistan 164 for 3 (Shafiq 78*, Hafeez 49, Price 2-21) beat Zimbabwe 151 for 7 (39.4/39.4 ov) (Ervine 52, Chigumbura 32*, Gul 3-36) by seven wickets (D/L method).
