Rutherford blitz leads Kiwis to narrow win: 1st T20 (Oval)

England fell just six runs short of a remarkable victory in a high scoring affair as New Zealand won by 5 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match series. New Zealand posted their third highest ever T20 total, a formidable 201 for four as Hamish Rutherford (62 in 35 balls) and captain Brendon McCullum (68 in 48 balls) smashed the England attack for 114 from 67 balls. New Zealand 201 for 4 (B McCullum 68, Rutherford 62, Taylor 32*, Wright 2-31) beat England 196 for 5 (Wright 52, Hales 39, Bopara 30*) by five runs. 1st T20 (Oval), June 2013
