Herath, Sandakan spin out Aussies: 1st Test, Day 2 (Kandy)

Veteran spinner Rangana Herath (4-49) and debutant Lakshan Sandakan (4-58) knocked over Australia for 203 after the visitors started the day at 66-2.

Overnight batsmen Usman Khawaja (26) and Steve Smith (30) didn't last long against Herath's left-arm spin. Only Adam Voges (47) looked at ease against the dual spin threat.

Sri Lanka then lost opener Kusal Perera to fast bowler Mitchell Starc when rain halted play at tea. Sri Lanka 117 and 6 for 1 (Silva 2*) trail Australia 203 (Voges 47, Herath 4-49, Sandakan 4-58) by 80 runs.
