Buttler revives England after Marsh strikes: 5th Test, Day 1 (Oval)

Jos Buttler overcome a middle order collapse by England as allrounder Mitchell Marsh took four wickets on the opening day.

After Tim Paine won the toss, Rory Burns and Joe Root made the most of several missed chances take England to 103-1 after lunch.

Marsh struck 4 times to have England struggling at 205-7. Jos Buttler’s late counter-attacking 64 not out took them to 271 as Jack Leach (10 not out) hung for an unbroken 45 run partnership for the 9th wicket.

England 271 for 8 (Buttler 64*, Root 57, Marsh 4-35) v Australia.
