Rohit, Rahane rescue India: 3rd Test, Day 1 (Ranchi)

Rohit Sharma hit a sparkling century and was aided by Ajinkya Rahane in a 4th wicket stand that rescued India after an early collapse.

Sharma finished the day unbeaten on 117 (164 balls, 14 fours and four sixes) for his sixth career century.

His partnership with Rahane for the fourth wicket – so far 185 runs in a little more than 42 overs – was also an Indian fourth-wicket record against the Proteas.

Bad light stopped play after tea with India on top.
