Match Fixing: Umar Akmal suspended after bookie contact exposed

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) suspended Umar Akmal with immediate effect due to which the right-handed batsman cannot take part in any cricket-related activity till the investigation is in progress.

Akmal has played for Pakistan over 100 times in all 3 formats since making his debut in 2009.

Akmal was charged under Article 4.7.1 of the PCB Anti-Corruption Code, under which the PCB can “in circumstances where it considers that the integrity of the sport could otherwise be seriously undermined, to Provisionally Suspend the Participant pending the Anti-Corruption Tribunal’s determination of whether he/she has committed an offence."
