Inthikab Alam: Leg spinner and captain took wicket with first Test delivery
Inthikab Alam was born on December 28, 1941 in Hoshiarpur, Punjab, India. He was a right arm leg spinner and a hard hitting middle order batsman.
He made his first class debut for Karachi aged 16 years in 1957. He made his Test debut against Australia at Karachi in 1959. He bowled Colin Macdonald with his first delivery.
In 1967, Inti made 51 in a record 9th wicket stand of 190 with Asif Iqbal at the Oval
Inti captained Pakistan in 17 Tests starting with the 1971 tour of England and led Pakistan to their first ever overseas series win in New Zealand in 1972/72. His career highlight was the 1974 tour of England which the Pakistan team went unbeaten, including a drawn 3 Test series
Inti retired in 1977 after the West Indies tour. He has been involved with Pakistan cricket as a coach and team manager.
