Surinder Amaranath: Member of a famous cricketing dynasty
Surinder Amarnath was born 30 December 1948.
He was an aggressive left-handed batsman. Making his first-class cricket debut as a fifteen-year-old in a career that spanned from 1963 to 1985, Amarnath scored 8175 runs at the impressive batting average of 40.47.
He played 10 Tests and 3 ODI's for India. In Tests, he scored a century on his debut against New Zealand in January 1976. In all, he scored 550 runs at an average of 30.56 with a top score of 124.
His father Lala and brother Mohinder also played for India.
