Karunakalage Sajeewa Chanaka de Silva (born 11 January 1971 in Kalutara, Sri Lanka) was a left-arm fast-medium bowling. He represented Sri Lanka in international cricket from 1996 to 2000.
de Silva was a “whippy” left-arm fast-medium bowler capable of moving the ball both ways. He was one of several fast-medium bowlers tried by Sri Lanka in the late 1990s. While he had the ability to excel even on surfaces not conducive to pace bowling, he struggled with stamina in Test cricket, leading to a brief stint in that format. However, he found more success in ODIs due to his ability to both contain runs and take wickets.
Sajeewa de Silva and Russel Arnold held the record for the highest 10th wicket partnership (51) for Sri Lanka in ODIs. This was against Zimbabwe at Bulawayo in 1999 (on March 13, 2019, Isuru Udana and Kasun Rajitha set a new record for Sri Lanka’s 10th wicket in ODIs by scoring 58 runs against South Africa in Port Elizabeth).
