Sonny Baker (born 13 March 2003 in Torbay, Devon) is a right-arm quick capable of generating speeds above 90mph.
Baker first came to prominence through the Somerset academy system, where his natural pace and ability to extract steep bounce quickly attracted national attention. His performances at youth level earned him selection for England age-group sides, marking him as a future international prospect.
Baker’s early career was disrupted by a series of injuries, including stress fractures that limited his appearances and prevented him from playing in the 2022 Under-19 World Cup. Despite these setbacks, he remained highly rated by coaches and selectors because of his raw pace and aggressive style. Seeking greater opportunities, he moved to Hampshire ahead of the 2025 season, where regular cricket helped him develop his skills and establish himself as one of the fastest bowlers on the county circuit.
His impressive domestic performances led to England recognition, and he made his Test debut against New Zealand in 2026. Baker immediately showcased his pace and attacking mindset, troubling established international batters with his speed and bounce.
