Record Salt century blasts South Africa into oblivion: 2nd T20 (Manchester)

Opener Phil Salt dominated as England leveled the T20 series in spectacular fashion at Old Trafford, thrashing South Africa by 146 runs in the second match.

After being sent in to bat, England piled up a record 304/2, their highest ever T20I total, as Salt smashed a breathtaking 141 not out off 60 balls, the fastest century for England in just 39 deliveries, while Jos Buttler blazed 83 off 30. Their 100-run powerplay and 166-run halfway mark were both national records, leaving South Africa’s bowlers battered, with Kagiso Rabada conceding 70 runs in his four overs.

In reply, South Africa crumbled to 158 all out in 16.1 overs, unable to match England’s relentless assault, as the hosts sealed a crushing win and set up a series decider.

England 304 for 2 (Salt 141*, Buttler 83) beat South Africa 158 (Markram 41, Archer 3-25) by 146 runs.
