Hridoy shines as Bangladesh surprise Sri Lanka in thriller: 2025 Asia Cup S4 No 1 (Dubai)

Towhid Hridoy was the star as Bangladesh secured a thrilling four-wicket win over Sri Lanka with one ball to spare in Dubai.

Batting first, Sri Lanka posted 168 for 7 thanks to a blistering 64 off 37 balls from captain Dasun Shanaka, with support from Kusal Mendis and Pathum Nissanka, while Mustafizur Rahman’s three wickets kept the total in check.

In reply, Bangladesh’s chase was anchored by Saif Hassan’s composed 61 and Towhid Hridoy’s fluent 58, the pair sharing a crucial middle-order stand that steadied nerves after early wickets.

Despite late pressure from Sri Lanka’s bowlers, Bangladesh reached 169 for 6 with one ball to spare to secure an upset win in the Super 4 stage.
