Rahul, Jurel, Jadeja centuries pound Windies: 1st Test, Day 2 (Ahmedabad)

Dhruv Jurel scored his maiden Test century as India tightened their grip on the first Test against West Indies on Day 2 in Hyderabad.

Resuming at 121 for 2, KL Rahul struck a composed century before falling for 100, while Shubman Gill added a fluent 50.

The day, however, belonged to Dhruv Jurel and Ravindra Jadeja, who piled on the pressure with a commanding 206-run stand for the fifth wicket. Jurel notched up his maiden Test hundred with 125, while Jadeja remained unbeaten on 104 at stumps, supported by Washington Sundar on 9*.

India closed on a dominant 448 for 5, securing a commanding lead of 286, leaving the West Indies bowlers, led by Roston Chase’s 2 for 90, struggling to find breakthroughs.

India 448 for 5 (Jurel 125, Rahul 100, Jadeja 104*, Chase 2-90) lead West Indies 162 by 286 runs.
