Stephen Cook was born on 29 Nov 1982 at Johannesburg. He is a right handed opening batsman who made his first class debut in 2000 for Gauteng.
In 2010 he scored 390 runs in a single innings, surpassing several South African and international first-class cricket records, and was included in the South Africa A squad. At the age of 33, he forced his way into the Test team in the 4th Test against England in 2016 where he made a century on debut.
He is the son of Jimmy Cook who played in South Africa's first Test after re-admission in 1992.
